Testimonials

" Dr. Howard,
It's been quite some time since I saw you, but I just wanted to send a quick thank you. After my knee surgery back in October of 2009, I had no idea how that would affect me. Once I enlisted, I was still worried that my knee would keep me from the military career I had dreamed of. Well, 3 months into climbing lots of mountains here in Afghanistan, I'll have you know I am doing great!!! As a medic, I'm constantly asked if I want to go to med school. I think I'm pretty set on PT school now after I finish up my Bachelor's and hopefully will find my way into working with Wounded Warriors. We had a catastrophic event happen just over a month ago and realizing how much physical therapy has done for my friends that survived that day has been such motivation. Thank you again for all you helped me through.
- F. Spivey
P.S., Here's a picture from a mountain I climbed last week!!

"Torn labrum, torn capsule, damaged joint, damaged cartilage all in the same leg...three hip surgeries later with a hip dislocation in between, I am now standing, running, and living like never before. An injury such as mine would force any athlete to question their ability to ever play the sport that they absolutely love again. I certainly had to do so. Bending told one day after another how rare my situation is and how difficult it would be to fully recover was very difficult to think about. After all, I had been playing soccer most of my life and in an instant it was taken from me. After everything that had happened the odds far outweighed the good, which put me in a very uncomfortable position. With the extent of my hip injuries, the level of activity that I could do was and still is very questionable. I thought I had reached the end until I was introduced to Lee Howard.
From day one Lee had told me that it was NOT going to be an easy road but he could promise that he would do all he could to get me back to not only a healthy state but a competitive one too. Every day, every week, and every month was a process but Lee never gave up on me. It has now been a little over one year since I have worked with Lee and there is not one moment that I would take back. I am now stronger, faster, and ten times better than how I first came in.
Lee gave me hope and a reason to never give up. He gave me a confidence in myself and in my hip and he never broke his promise. Lee and his team always provided me with his incredible knowledge of hip rehabilitation and athletic development but he has also provided me with sport specific exercises and tips that I can carry with me on my journey back to soccer. Whether I can compete fully or partially is still up for question but I am confident that without Lee Howard I would not be where I am today.
Apart from my other fantastic doctors, Dr. Lee Howard and his amazing team at CPT saved my life. I will forever be grateful for the care at CPT and I can definitely say that Lee Howard is one of the best physical therapists out there and can be trusted with anything."

"I have been working with Carolina Physical Therapy since the beginning, which is around seven years. I am a very injury prone athlete. As a State Champion pole-vaulter, I don't have time to be injured. My typical track season consists of Lee gluing me back together, and it works amazingly well. Most doctors or physical therapists tell you to stop on the littlest problem. Lee works with you and understands that athletes do not ever want to stop just for an injury, but is very honest with you about the pros and cons about competing. The off-season for me personally is about getting faster, stronger, and less injury prone. Lee's ADP (athletic development program) does this very well and has made me into a much better athlete. I owe all my accomplishments to Lee because without him I would be a mess."

SYDNEY WHITE
"When I first started working with Lee and the staff at Carolina Physical Therapy my track season and my development as an athlete were both at a complete halt due to ankle injury. Coming out of therapy I was better and stronger than ever and made the decision to transition to athletic development. I worked with Lee multiple times a week, focusing on not only getting faster, stronger, and more athletic but getting rid of weakness as well. I truly believe that Carolina Physical Therapy has the best therapy and training you can get.
The passion and knowledge of the staff holds as well as the best equipment you can find, you will get better whether it be physically or athletically. Thanks to Lee Howard I reached my senior season goal of re-breaking my state record and making my second USA team. Now, going into college I am faster, stronger, and better than I ever thought possible. Thanks Lee, for always pushing me to my limits and helping me get closer to becoming the pole-vaulter that I want to be. My senior year successes wouldn't have happened without you. I know that wherever pole vaulting takes me in the future, I couldn't have done it without you!"

MADISON RAYFIELD
"Lee's Athletic Development Program is a great way for any athlete to improve on their specific sport and their overall athleticism. Lee targets your strengths and weaknesses through a series of tests at the beginning of your training. Throughout the program, he focuses on your weaknesses while also helping you to fine tune your strengths. The most helpful part of his training for me is the use of the treadmills. They all have a different purpose and keep the workouts interesting because you never know what Lee will come up with for conditioning on any given day. I also love that he has tons of equipment that allows you to work any part of your body. The Athletic Development Program has been a great experience for me and I would recommend it to any athlete that wants to improve their performance."
- Madison Rayfield (8/2012)
JOSH HOWARD
Josh Howard has worked with Lee for almost 9 years - since his days as a noteworthy Wake Forest Demon Deacon. After four years at Wake Forest ('99-'00 season to the '02-'03 season), Josh moved to Texas to play in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks in 2003. Most recently, he signed with the NBA's Washington Wizards in 2009, but continues to seek Lee's expertise in the off-season.
"Dr. Howard has been a great asset to me over the past 8½ years. He works well with the doctors to get the right information so he can understand your injury and adjust the physical therapy to what he feels will give you the maximum/best results. What I appreciate most about Dr. Howard and the staff at Carolina Physical Therapy is that they care about YOU, the patient, first and foremost and getting you back to 100% at the right pace."

TAYLOR DULANEY

"Not only has Lee helped me get back on the field as far as taking care of my injuries, but he has also helped me excel at what I love to do. After experiencing consistent ankle problems throughout high school, Lee has helped me rehab so that I can return to the field under the most efficient time lapse possible. I have, through Carolina PT's help, gained strength and prevented injuries over the last year whereas prior to training with him I would get injured at least once a season. Being injury free, I have been able to focus more on my training to improve my speed, jumping, quick feet, endurance, etc. which has all had massive impacts on improving my game overall. Lee and the rest of the staff show an obvious passion for the patients, and that - combined with top-of-the-line equipment - easily provides the best training I've had in all my years of playing soccer. I want to thank you all for pushing me to become the best possible athlete that I can be - I couldn't have done it without you."

AARON TOOMEY
Aaron is a local basketball star, playing for Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School in Kernersville. Toomey has scored 2003 career points and holds more than 5 school records in scoring, assists, free throws and other statistics. In 2009, he led the BMCHS Villains to victory in the NCHSAA State Championship and was hailed MVP in both the championship game and the Western Regional. On a broader scale, Aaron is a 2010 McDonald's All American nominee, 2-time Associated Press All-State selection ('09 and '10), 2-time conference Player of the Year ('09 and '10), and played in the prestigious NCHSAA East-West All Star game.
"When I started coming in to Lee after basketball season freshman year (2007), I expected to improve my strength and jumping a little bit. At the time, I remember getting close to the rim was a stretch. After a few months of working out with Lee, I dunked for the first time. I thought it was incredible how fast I got to that point, and I attribute a lot of my success on the court to Lee and all he did for me throughout my high school career."
- Aaron Toomey, July 2010
"Lee, here's to continued success as you share with others your knowledge and dedication to health. Thanks for helping to keep me on the field. All the best!"

"Lee, your hard work and understanding of how to rehab an athlete is second to none. The workouts were always challenging and made my transition from rehab back to the court as smooth as possible. Thanks again for the positive impact you had on my career."
- Steve Lepore, WFU basketball (2000-2003)

"I have been blessed to work with Lee Howard and Carolina Physical Therapy through both rehab and performance aspects. The competitive atmosphere they provide and the state-of-the-art equipment are next to none - I don't have to worry about falling behind or getting out of shape when I come home. Moreover, Lee's passion and knowledge for what he does is incredible. After repairing an early but extreme back injury and finding a happy medium for fixing a fractured tibia while lifting/conditioning in preparation for ACC basketball, it is safe to say that Lee Howard has kept my basketball career alive. He and the entire CPT crew are, no doubt, the best there is - I trust them with anything!"
